invest in a candy thermometer. remove from heat at 300 f EXACTLY. if you’re in a very humid environment, let it get to 302 before removing from heat.

I found that after you have pulverized the dry bud through a sieve into a glass container using the bowl of a spoon you can put the mixture into an old clean pantyhose piece tied with thread at the top. Roll the stuff in the sock till it will fit through the neck of the jar. Fill jar with 1 cup high proof vodka;not under 100 proof–, replace jar lid. Shake jar frequently and keep it in freezer for 5 days. (I take it out and give it poke with a spoon handle then shake it repeating this 3 times a day. 5 days later you should have a darkish green tincture; No cleanup either–all the plant parts stay inside the sock which you can wring out back into the glass container when done. I used 12 grams to make this; it’s easier to swallow in a drink for me instead of cannabutter which tastes weird. It really helps relieve nerve pain.

My mother has MS and the only way she will get high is off of weed suckers. She doesn’t like smoking. MS (if you don’t know) is a type of never damage problem. Id like to talk to you more about this for help!

    Thanks. -Katie

How many lollipops do you get in the end? How strong wood you say each lollipop is with one ounce of tonic and then two ounces of tonic?

    Hey there Cannachef~
    I made these for 420! Happy 420 everyone! :)
I made mine extra special by pouring in some homemade blackberry syrup at the end for color and flavoring. I took the mix up to 300 degrees, but that wasn’t enough, because they came out soft. Also, I was stoned when I made them and forgot to add the dang cannabis tincture! Haha! Doh!
So I put the whole batch back into the pot with a bit of water and just kept stirring until it was dissolved. Then I let it get up to 325 degrees this time, and they turned out superb! I also added plenty of tincture, and they are just right.
The other thing is: I didn’t have sucker molds. I put foil onto cookie sheets and then rubbed them down with coconut oil. (any oil will do) Then I poured the suckers out into weird shapes and put popsicle sticks in them. Then I poured a bit more over the popsicle stick to cover it. When they were hard I wrapped them in wax paper and plastic wrap.
Off to celebrate this amazing herb we’ve been blessed with!
    Party On! ;)

I would suggest agave nectar as a substitute. Use 1/2 cup agave nectar and add another 1/2 cup of water.

I followed the directions to the letter the candy didn’t harden. It was like thick syrup. When this happen we drained the molds & re-heated the ingredients cooking it at a boil for an hour or so.It still like thick syrup. I’m waiting till tomorrow to see if it hardens over night.I’ll let you know if it works.

theres too much liquid!! if u reduce the corn syrup to 2/3 c and the water to 3/4c you will get much better results. Stir until all is dissolved. then do not stir again. add food coloring aroung 260, it will mix on its own. take off heat add flavoring n tincture. mix well n pour

This is what I do for the perfect molds. Take a cookie sheet and completely fill it with powdered sugar. Spread it across the cookie sheet and pack it Find something to make the shape you want, I use lots of things. A round teaspoon makes a good sucker shape. Press your shape into the powdered sugar deep enough to fill with sucker mixture, Repeat the print across the sheet. If you are using sticks just press them in half deep in the mold. The sucker mixture hardens quickly and the pressed powdered sugar holds it in place. Works really well.. Once you try it you will find yourself looking for all kinds of cool shapes for suckers and hard candy….

I made mine Cherry Cola Flavour! Recipe turned out great though they happened to be a bit bitter, any remedies for this? Did anyone else have the same issue? (I used white rum for the tincture.)

i have never understood this: i was told that your body doesn’t like to absorb THC unless its encapsulated in fat or alcohol, which is the point of the tincture. But the alcohol boils off at 300F, so what is left to help your body absorb the THC? And for that matter, since the alcohol boils off, what difference does it make how far you reduce or concentrate

also, in my experience, when you pour the alcohol in at 300F it just makes a big glob in the middle doesn’t mix with the other ingredients.

    Please help me understand?

Great batch, a healthy squeeze of red food coloring at 290 and they look like Christmas candy. Followed some of the above advice…a little less water and corn syrup, heated to 320, poured out into the confectioner shugar mold ( 30 candies larger than silver dollar) and a little residue to serve cracked…am checking dosage now and music sounds great!

I have never made these candys with the tincture. However, I have done a lot of cooking and baking in my day. This recipe dosnt leave much to be desired or room for error if you follow directions. In my experience with cooking and baking you must have the proper utensils when making candy. A must have is a candy thermometer. Some good practice would be to make regular candy and get that down pat, then once that is easy peasy lemon squeezy then adventure to this adding tincture and whatnots….good luck my friends! Just remember trial and error, and practice makes perfect!

The ignition point of the high proof alcohol used to make tincture is well below the 300• temp for the candy. So how do you not end up with combustion risk when throwing the tincture into hot sugar?

The tincture is made with alcohol, but all the alcohol is evaporated – this leaves a THC oil (THC is oil based) and that is what the tincture is. The essence of the bud in a tiny concentrated form. Depending on the process you use to make the tincture, it can be dangerous as alcohol, fumes, and open flames are often used, but once in tincture forms, no worries.

Hey Carla, immediately put your pans and things into HOT water and let soak. Like candy disolves in your mouth it will in water. If its still present, remove cool water and soak in hot water again.

keep a teapot or a pan of boiling water handy. as soon as you finish pouring your candy pour boiling water into the pan put your utensils in it and if need be add more hot water. it will melt away in a matter of a few minutes!

I tried this last night. For my tincture, I used 3.5g of AVB and 3.5g of fresh bud along with all the kief I had which was a pretty decent amount. I soaked that in 2 oz of everclear for 1 week, mixing a couple times a day. Strained thoroughly (pantyhose work great).

I cut down the corn syrup to just over 3/4c and water to 3/4c as I didn’t want it to gel like others reported. But I think it would have been fine at 1c 1c and I will try that next time.

I accidentally let my mix get up to 315 deg f and then added my color, flavor & tincture. The color didn’t take (no biggie), I could have used a bit more flavoring but it’s a lesson learned depending on the flavor oil you choose. The tincture solidified the top layer and about killed me as it instantly evaporated into a massive alcohol cloud which I managed to inhale (not good).

I had to heat it and stir more to get that top layer melted back in. From there everything was perfect. Made 30 pieces of candy in these molds:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P1S5OM/

These are pretty sizable pieces of candy. A smaller mold would be ideal. Instead I poured them between 1/2 and 3/4 full which works great. Good recipe, good times!
